Summer time, a yellow Lab, is eight. Nowadays, she patrols Washington Union Station along with her associate, Sgt. Micah Jones. It’s a five-day-a-week job.

“After I stand up and prepare, put my uniform on, I put the harness on, she is aware of she’s able to go,” Jones informed ABC affiliate WJLA. However Summer time hasn’t at all times been his associate.

In her earlier life, Summer time was deployed in Afghanistan with the Marines.

“She’s been in firefights. She’s discovered IEDs and VBEDs and it’s simply an honor to work—that an animal like that saved 1000’s and 1000’s of lives,” her associate says.

And now, Summer time is up for the American Humane Hero Canine Awards within the army class.

“It could imply quite a bit to offer her the popularity that she rightfully deserves,” Jones mentioned.

Voting for the award is public and at the moment is the final day. To view Summer time’s story and vote for her — and peruse the opposite canines nominated within the Awards’ numerous classes, click on right here.
