Social media erupted with sorrow and sweetness as the general public realized that Sam, one of many canines who portrayed “Duke” in commercials for Bush’s Baked Beans had died.
Sam lived in Apopka, FL, along with his proprietor, Susan. Neighbor David Odom’s publish about Sam’s loss of life went viral on Fb, and Bush’s Baked Beans responded.
“We proceed to be overwhelmed by fan curiosity and their love of Duke. The connection between Jay and his beloved canine Duke is the embodiment of the BUSH’S model, and has been part of our household story for greater than 20 years,” Bush’s Baked Beans wrote on Fb on Tuesday. “Throughout that point, we’ve labored intently with a number of canines who portrayed Duke in our commercials, together with Sam.”
The corporate says Sam hasn’t performed “Duke” lately, but they’re “saddened by the information of his passing and are grateful to have had him depict Duke.”
“As a result of Duke is iconic to BUSH’S and so adored by our followers, we are going to proceed to make use of him in our advertisements,” the corporate’s assertion stated.
David Odom shared a photograph and wrote about Sam’s loss of life on Fb final week. He added that Sam’s proprietor trains animals to work in commercials.
“Sadly [Susan] needed to euthanize Sam yesterday as a result of an aggressive most cancers he was affected by,” Odom’s publish from June 28 reads. “She is as we’re heartbroken…. He was a really particular canine to all who ever knew or had the pleasure of assembly him. He’s and can be missed,” Odom wrote.
Sam’s character “Duke” is understood for making snarky feedback to his “proprietor,” Jay, within the firm’s commercials the place he typically makes an attempt to leak the key recipe.
There was an outpouring of messages for the lovable and well-known canine on social media.
